The Rolling River Band: Music
Sunburst
(The Rolling River Band)
Steven Perrott
Woke up this morning to an Autumn sunburst
A thousand shades red, yellow, gold and brown
Slipped on my clothes stepped out into the sunlight
To walk along the river into town
On my way home the sky was clouding over, an icy wind was whipping around my heels
Puddles shone in colours from the neon city lights, I got lost inside the red and blue and green
Passing people to me looked like shadows, their faces hidden from the driving rain,
Decided to take a shortcut up by Redmond street but every street round here just looks the same
It's a long way home to where I've come from, it's a long way ahead to where I'm bound
Like the weather man he said, there's a hurricane ahead but I know that I just have to keep on going
Won't you come inside a while and take some shelter, you surely must be soaked right to the skin
Won't you come inside a while I'll make you warmer,
Just for tonight it doesn't mean a thing
I'm afraid I will decline your kindly offer, see the thing is I don't mind a little rain,
It helps to purify a broken spirit, it helps a man to feel alive again
And it's a long way home to where I've come from, a long way ahead to where I'm bound, the weather man he said, there's a hurricane ahead, but I know that I just have to keep on going
